The Tig Air Aviation Story
When Tig Air Aviation opened for business at the Jesse Viertel Airport in Boonville, Missouri in 1975, there were only five airplanes at the brand new Boonville Airport - and two of them belonged to Tig Air!
David Bradley was
the sole employee ... flight instructor, secretary, refueler
and janitor. The airplanes were brand new, 1976 Grummans. The
two seater was a Grumman TR2 and the four seater was a Grumman
Cheetah. Later on a Grumman Tiger would be added to the lair.
Over the past thirty years Tig Air has operated a lot of different aircraft and been involved in just about every aspect of general aviation.....from airport management to charter service. But today, Tig Air is back to its roots....offering flight instruction from the Private Certificate through the Flight Instructor Rating, with an emphasis on professionalism and safety.
David Bradley - A Lifetime Of Sharing Aviation
In 38 years of flying,
Tig Air Aviation proprietor David Bradley has logged over 22000
hours. Not a lot of hours for an aviation professional, but the
overwhelming majority of Bradley's hours have been logged one
hour per flight, flying primary and instrument flight students.
Only a handful of pilots can make a similar claim.
"I love flight instruction" says Bradley. "I learn from each student, and after over 30 years of flight instruction I think I am getting the hang of it. Our mission at Tig Air Aviation is to help people achieve their goal of learning to fly while operating in a safe and professional environment".
Bradley received
his flight training in the United States Marine Corps. He earned
his Navy wings of gold in September of 1968, and after a brief
stop for some transition training on the East Coast headed for
HMM 165, a helicopter squadron at Marble Mountain, Republic of
Vietnam. After his Vietnam tour he finished out his four years
in the Marine Corps as a flight instructor at Pensacola, Florida
in the Navy Flight Training Command.
While operating
Tig Air, Bradley kept his contacts with the military through
the Missouri National Guard. He spent 23, of his 30 years in
the Guard, flying helicopters as an instructor pilot. Most of
those years he was attached to an air ambulance unit. It was
in that role that he served in Southwest Asia during the Persian
Gulf War. He finished his Guard career flying the C-23, a cargo
plane built by the Shorts Brothers of Ireland.
In addition to flight instructing Bradley is an FAA Designated Examiner.
